Nexus One "Superphone" Is Out

It's official: Google has announced the Nexus One. Calling it a "superphone," Google provided no major surprises, except that a CDMA version of the phone will becoming to Verizon in the US "in the Spring." Sorry Droid (although Droid will get the 2.1 software update).

You can see/buy the phone (only T-Mobile now) here: google.com/phone. Nexus One will work with AT&T GSM but effectively people will only get "Edge speeds."

Google has effectively flipped the relationship between carriers and hardware OEMs, by selling the phone directly to the public and making carriers compete for consumer business on the Google consumer website. The Nexus One is just the first phone that Google will sell directly via this site.
